The other night was one of the bigger experiences of my life - musically that is! I was lucky enough to get hold of tickets for the first indoor Dave Matthews concert on Danish ground (he played at Midfyns Festivallen in 95 and Roskilde Festivallen in 96). And what a concert!!!
I was properly introduced to Dave Matthews music four years ago, 6th of March 2003 to be exact. And since then the journey has just taken me deeper and deeper into the univers of breath taking music he is gives to his fans.
Dave Matthews was born in South Africa, and thanks to wikipedia I can tell you that it was born in 1967. Dave and his wife, Jennifer Ashley Harper, have twin daughters born in 2001, and a third child on its way in the Summer of 2007. The family splits their time between Seattle, Washington and Charlottesville, Virginia. Although Dave was raised as a Quaker, he now considers himself to be agnostic.
Anyhow the concert the other night was a solo concert although he had one guy with him, Tim Renoylds.
First of all I must say, that I am ever so impressed: They played for a full two hours and forty five minutes! The only other time I have been to such a long - and good - concert was in 1988 with Bruce Springsteen. But I am honestly impressed that these two guys on their own can entertain on such a high energy level for so long.
I must say though that I am not sure what to think about his portrayal of him self. His anecdotes were nice, fun and well placed. But without being able to put a finger on it, there was something weird in his way of speaking and presenting him self. Anyhow the balance between music, singing and talking was superb!
It was a brilliant concert and all I can hope for now is that the next time he visits Denmark he will bring his band - and that I once again will get tickets.
Thanks to Kusine, Sanne and Joe for a reaaaally nice evening.

Little Barrie

Once again I won some tickets for a fairly unknown band in Little Vega this past Friday, and this time it was for a concert with Little Barrie. Never the less I predict that this band will not stay unknow for very long!
They have a lot of talent and their music is very mellow - in the best way ever!
I don’t know the names of the guys names but what I can tell is that the singer is a right charmer! Besides having a soft voice, his way of singing and talking is very aticulated which added a hole lot to the experience.
It was obvious that it is an upcoming band. Not that I can point out why exactly, but it was obvious in their behavior, they were ever so well-manored and a bit shy. But I doubt that it will stay that way for ever
Keep an eye out for Little Barrie, they are worth the attention!
Thanks to Kusine, Helle and Malene for a good evning in Little Vega.

Nouvelle Vague

Finally Nouvelle Vague made it all the way to Denmark, and thank God for that!
In Copenhagen they played at Loppen in Christiania, and this place has quite a bit of atmosphere. Generally I find the sound to be satisfactory, but unfortunately it is usually completely impossible to see anything of what goes on on stage. Anyways when you get use to sway from side to side and move around a bit, then it is a pretty nice place for intimate concerts.
It was brilliant to see the band and to hear all their unique sounds live. Although Nouvelle Vague only make fantastic music I must admit I prefer their self-intitled album which was their debut.
In their performance last night they had changed a little on how the tracks sounded like, but only to the limit where you could stille recognize them all. The intros was even longer than on the albums which for sure made the music more enchanting and intense.
The girls, which are the only ones to sing, keep the attitude all way through the show which makes the band cool in every sense. They springle their energy out to the audience and the atmosphere was relaxed and intense yet hyped.
It was a very nice evening and the walls of Loppen and the sounds of Nouvelle Vague protected us from the rough weather outside.
Thanks to Stine, Trine, Malene og Kåre for a good and long waited evening!

Do it in style - do the EODM way!
Went to the EODM concert Thursday of this week - and it was nothing less than fantastic! I had a blast of a time and we were well suprised that the music was that good. Well we didn’t know a lot of it on beforehand but we do now.
The singer, Jesse Hughes, was a show in him self. I am not sure I have experienced anyone with so much charisma before. Well I might have, but Jesse ranks very high on my list of musicians with lots of charisma!
Anyways thanks to my cousin for a night to remember!
